Google began rolling out 14 more outside apps inside Gemini on September 23. Six are work software: Airtable, Linear, monday.com, PandaDoc, Wispr AI and Zoho. Adobe, Picsart, Squarespace and Webflow cover design and websites, and apartments.com, Experian, Peloton and SeatGeek cover everyday life. A user connects an app in Gemini's settings, or calls it into a chat by typing @ and its name, and Gemini then works inside it: retouching a photo in Photoshop, building a workout plan, checking a credit score.
Google named 13 other partners on August 12, which makes 27 in 42 days by the trade site PPC Land's count. OpenAI is signing up the same kind of companies for ChatGPT, and Experian put its UK credit score inside ChatGPT on August 20. Each assistant wants to be the one window people open for everything, and the app makers are joining both.
Ten of the new 14 work only in the US, according to Google's availability table. Outside the US, users get Adobe, monday.com and Wispr AI. Of those three, only monday.com accepts work and school Google accounts as well as personal ones. On a work account, the company's Google Workspace administrator controls how long Gemini keeps activity. On a personal account, the account holder does.
Once an app is connected, Google and the app maker each keep a copy of what passes between them. Whatever Gemini pulls from monday.com or Adobe is saved to the user's Gemini Apps Activity, which Google uses to improve Gemini and some of which human reviewers read. Google's privacy hub states that disconnecting an app or deleting data in it "doesn't delete any data from Gemini Apps Activity." The app maker keeps whatever Gemini shared with it under its own policy, even after the Gemini history is cleared. A chat that one of Google's reviewers read before the user deleted it stays on file for up to three years.
